Mata ki Pratima:

Navaratri at sakti-pitha of cuttack Maa Cuttack Chandi is unique and goddess is famous everywhere. From many ages mother goddess is being worshipped by a name “Bhubaneswari” in cuttack. The goddess is famously known as cuttack-chandi and worshipped by a mantra Bhubaneswari. Mother goddess also kown as Gada Chandi.

The statue of goddess is standing with her weapons like; “Pasa”, “Ankusha”. She has 4 hands and two upper hands hold “Pasa” and “Ankusha”, and two lower hands hold “Abhay”and “coin of blessings”.

Abhishekha:

During Durga puja the goddess is worshipped 16 days in autumn season. On the day of “Radha astami” “sayana Utsav” is celebrated near the goddess and then the goddess sleeps. On the day of “Mulastami” hundreds of “Kumbhabhisheka” is done. That means after the ordination (abhisheka) of the goddess by kumbha (womb) she is waken up. On that day in the evening the goddess is brought from Gadagadeswar Ghat and then she is kept in the middle of the temple after which the sixteen days autumn season puja starts. This year it was on 9th September hundred of Kumbhabhikeshaka was done and on 10th of September Mulastami was started. From 11th September to 17th September upto Mahalaya the goddess adorned by different attires like Sunabesa, Bhubaneswari, Matangi, Sodasi Narayani, Rajarajeswari and Jaydurga form was done. Due to the entry of “Mala Masa (Adhik or Kshay)” in “Joda Ashwin” the goddess’s sunabesa was done.

Different Attires of Mother Goddess:

From first day of Navaratri Puja maa took the form of “Ugratara” on from 2nd 3rd & 4th day of Navratri she took the form of “Harachandi”. After taking the form of “Banadurga” and “Tripura Bhairavi” on 5th Day, she took the form of “Gayatri” on 6th day (Sasthi) goddess took “Bagalamukhi” on Mahasaptami and form of “Mahakali” on Mahaastami in which she was bathed after 9 in the night and then “Sandhipuja” is done. She takes the form of “Maha Laxmi” on “Mahanavami” and the form of resting “Maha Saraswati”. On the day of “Bijayadashmi” Mahisa Mardini will be done followed by sunabesa on the next day.

There are Sixteen important Attires (Besa) of Maa Gada Chandi (Cuttack Chandi).

10 th Sept. 2020 – Mula Astami

11 th Sept. 2020 – Suna Besa (Golden Attire)

12 th Sept. 2020 – Bhubaneswari Besha

13 th Sept. 2020 – Matangi Besha

14 th Sept. 2020 – Sodasi Besha

15 th Sept. 2020 -Narayani Besa

16 th Sept. 2020 – Raja Rajeswari Besa

17 th Sept. 2020 – Jayadurga Besa (on the day of Mahalaya)

18 th Sept.  to 16th Oct. 2020 – Suna Besa
