Laxmi Mundia Hills

There is a claim to make “Laxmi Mundia Hill” a visiting site which is situated in Jagannath Prasad block near Kokolaba village of Ganjam district. The hill is a great beauty of nature. There are many caves present in which “Rishi Kailash” has been surviving past 18 years. He spends his time by planting trees and worshipping “Laxminurshinga”, “Baba Gupteswar” with Gods, Goddess and many Rishis. He has a mania for planting trees. There are more than 2,000 trees planted which are medicinal and some bear fruits. He comes down the hill once in a week and sustains his life by whatever he gets by the people. In spite being 65 years old he climbs on big rocks and cleans the caves which is his daily routine.

There are more than 7 caves located on it of which all the entrances are closed. With the permission of “Rishi Kailash” and help of local people they have built stairs to climb up the hill. Moreover, they have provided facilities like electricity and water. From past few years visitors have been coming here to visit the temple, stay and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the place. There are also facilities to cook in the staying place. According to mythology Ghumusar’s king used to do secret meditation in the cave. With addition to worshipping God he also used to train the warriors to save his land. This place has come to recognition by the Sarpanch of village. If the Government recognizes this place as a visiting site then it is believed that this would become one of the top visiting sites in Ganjam District. Due to the greenery and calmness of this place visitors once gone don’t feel like returning and they want to come over this place again. If Government recognizes it as a visiting site then there will be more facilities developed by them which will lead many visitors to visit this place. However, due to less recognition and fame this place is not known to many people.
