Mayurbhanj known as the “Land of Tigers”. This is the largest district of Odisha by area. Being an autonomous district they have various local tribes. Mayurbhanj is home for various tribes like ‘Santal’ ‘Ho’ ‘Bhunji’ ‘Bhumiyal’ ‘Kharia’ etc.. Locals residents has an immense respect for their culture and festivals. They celebrate ‘Makar ’ and ‘Karama’ Parva (festivals) with enormous amount of joy and excitement.

In the midst of mother nature a beautiful yet virile dance form originated called  as “Chaau Dance” which created worldwide recognition and fame.

Artistic mats, wooden painted items, Terracotta, Sabai Grass Products, Costume Jewelaries, musical instruments and many more are handicraft famous in the District.

Tourist Attractions:

There are many tourist destinations in Mayurbhanj. Some of the most popular one’s are-

Simplipal National Park – Must visit place of Odisha, surrounded by beautiful water falls and has over a 1000 species of flora and fauna.

Barehipani Water Fall – It is one of the highest waterfall in india.

Kichakeshwari Temple –  A temple dedicated to lord kali and is famous for it’s art work and stone handicrafts.

Maa Ambika Temple –  Temple of godess durga.

Belgadia Palace –   It is an old 18th century palace with a rich history to tell.

Bhimkund –  A beautiful natural reservoir.

Devkund –  This holy and sacred created naturally.

How To Reach:

Road Connectivity: Well connected with Balasore, Bhubaneshwar, Sambalpur, Rourkela etc.

Rail Connectivity –  Well connected by various places like Bhubaneshwar, Kolkata, Jamshedpur,  Cuttack etc.

By Air – Nearest international airport is Dumdum Airport, Kolkata (195kms) and Biju Patnaik International Airport (205kms).
