Daya River turned red with the blood of the deceased after the end of Kalinga War. After that Ashoka realised pain and suffering which comes with the war. And after that Emperor Ashoka had a special weakness for Dhauli (place). He made this place for meditatation and find peace, mainly for Buddhist. To remember this place he edicted in Rock.

Located on the banks of Daya River. Dhauli Shanti Stupa also known as Peace Pagoda. This is a very popular attraction among other tourist attraction in Bhubaneswar. It was built jointly by the Japan Buddha Sangh and Kalinga Nippon Buddha Sangh in 1972.

It has a dome shape which has Stone Panels displaying Lord Buddha’s footprints and the Bodhi tree. The dome has five umbrellas symbolising the five essential parts of Buddhism.

It is generally crowded as people from all over the world comes and visit this. It has various food stalls are outside the stupa. Tourists can purchage famous handicrafts of Odisha from there.

Dhauli at the end is a worth visiting place for die hard devotees of Lord Buddha.

How to Reach

By Air: The nearest Airport is Biju Patnaik International Airport, Bhubaneswar.

By Road: Dhaluli can be reached by buses from various parts of Odisha. Dhuligiri is well connected with roads which have cabs and private cars.

By Rail: The nearest Railway station is Bhubaneswar Railway station.
